      i have Compaq Presario CQ40-327TU and i downgrade vista to windows xp pro and i am facing a problem in my sound driver i install a sound driver the sounds is working but when i restart my laptop then sound is gone and then again i installed sound driver and i restart laptop again sound driver is gone pls help me on this issue

    CentOS and Debian are stable. Ubuntu server is also good and fully documented.

    Hello Prasad,

    I am extremely thankful and grateful to you for your
    blog on installing XP over CQ50-106AU. I simply couldn’t
    have made it without your help.

    We have managed to get everything working excepting
    for the Webcam & USB 2.0. The webcam launches( white
    LED turns on), but the image is black. THe USB connection is
    running at 1.1 version, since the drivers for EHCI USB
    controller (HP) is not available within any of the packages
    mentioned in your blog. So, it has been a nightmare using
    the USB ports.

    Please help in this regard if possible. I shall keep my hunt
    on for it in parallel, and will let you if at all i come across a
    driver for it.

    Meanwhile , may I ask if everything was okay when you
    tried them on your hardware/laptop?

    If you have installed all the drivers as mentioned; in order the USB and webcam will work fine.

    Hi,

    I am getting an error in linux [Centos 5]; after giving the user root privileges,
    “User’s $HOME/.dmrc file is being ignored. This prevents the default session and language from being saved. File should be owned by user and have 644 permissions. User’s $HOME directory must be owned by user and not writable by others.”

    Please help.

    First of all, thanks a lot for the CQ50-106au drivers guide for XP. I am not sure is this model comes with bluetooth or not because the driver is available on hps drivers site for vista 32 & 64 bit. how can we use bluetooth with XP. can u help me again?

    recently i have purchased a lap top, Compaq CQ50-105EE. it is by default loaded with vista home edition. i want to install XP operating system. the problem is i am totally novice with computer jargons. my frnds r saying that drivers for it is not available. is that so? what if i have to install XP OS. please help this novice guy.

    I have purchased a Lenovo 3000 G430N 4152ACQ modeled laptop containing CPU(Intel T3400 2.16 G), 2048M memory, 250G HDD,, DVD RW, 14.1″ W display, Fax/Modem, WLan, Camera, Bluetooth, But the driver cd only contains driver for Vista and I could not install the audio, Lan, Bluetooth, WLan driver, Please kindly provide me all the packaged drivers for XP with installation guide.

    Hi,
    I purchased a CQ40108TU laptop. By following your step i am able to install the Windows XP . First time its running fine but when i shutdown or restart the system its just opening the XP Screen and then its hanged the system and automatic restarting the system and then its shows the message”No boot Device-Insert boot disk and press any key”

      i bought the same laptop. dv4 1241tx.
      i installed xp professional sp2 succesfully by following Mr. Prasad instruction. u should have right SATA driver while preparing the Win xp.
      but icant install the wifi & bluetooth drivers, i dowloaded from hp support, even it does not work.

    i bought hp dv4 1241tx laptop. i need to install winxp.
    i found blue screen. it is different from BODS. IT THIS SCREEN IT SHOWS MY LAPTOP HAS VIRUS.

    i’m having usb bluetooth connection issue between nokia 2630 h/p with compaq cq40-506tu laptop… every authentication between both side went well but it’s d last point fail … my nokia h/p got d error
    ‘Bluetooth Connection Failed’ …

    btw, i’ve downloaded nokia pc suite on d laptop.

    i’m gonna try to download Silicon Wave bluetooth driver to my laptop .. but i’m not sure if it would work ..

    wat’s d correct steps to get usb bluetooth work in this above scenario ?

    first of all i wud like to thank u for driver installation tips u gave for c785tu laptop. now i have question to ask u.
    mine is c785tu laptop n i wud like to use MOBILE OFFICE appln.(browsing net in system via mobile, airtel is giving the offer on per day basis) in my laptop. I need to know the settings to be saved in the system to use that. And i use windows xp os. I wud be glad if solve my problem.
