I am facing problem on installing windows XP or Win-7 on my Compaq A901-TU-17″ laptop; everything is working fine except when any open folder last ending files will auto select and highlighting then open any other files, then open the highlighted files will open automatically, in that time ESC key will have to be pressed two to three times, some time it will go and some time repeated again. I think some virus attack problem is there. I do licensed kaspersky internet security using fully scanned but not solved, and fully formatted and again reinstall XP-Pack-2 even then I am facing the same issue. Can u help me?? Please give me valued source, if so please send me solution through mail.

blog on installing XP over CQ50-106AU. I simply couldn’t
have made it without your help.
We have managed to get everything working excepting
for the Webcam & USB 2.0. The webcam launches( white
LED turns on), but the image is black. THe USB connection is
running at 1.1 version, since the drivers for EHCI USB
controller (HP) is not available within any of the packages
mentioned in your blog. So, it has been a nightmare using
the USB ports.
Please help in this regard if possible. I shall keep my hunt
on for it in parallel, and will let you if at all i come across a
driver for it.
Meanwhile , may I ask if everything was okay when you
tried them on your hardware/laptop?

“User’s $HOME/.dmrc file is being ignored. This prevents the default session and language from being saved. File should be owned by user and have 644 permissions. User’s $HOME directory must be owned by user and not writable by others.”

First time its running fine but when i shutdown or restart the system its just opening the XP Screen and then its hanged the system and automatic restarting the system and then its shows the message”No boot Device-Insert boot disk and press any key”

i bought the same laptop. dv4 1241tx.
i installed xp professional sp2 succesfully by following Mr. Prasad instruction. u should have right SATA driver while preparing the Win xp.
but icant install the wifi & bluetooth drivers, i dowloaded from hp support, even it does not work.

press any key to boot from cd…..
then when i press any key, i got second message
system configuration checking ( like that)
after that i got a blank screen. i waited a long time, but no further movement.

I have compaq presario C773TU laptop.
I need to install ubuntu. I tried version 8.04.4 and 10.04.4.
The installation get stuck at 5%.
I tried defining manually the FS (with ext2/ext3) and then try to use it for mount “/”, but it seems some issue and It doesn’t proceed beyond 5%. I tried to change disk settings to enable/disable SATA support in BIOS, but with both type of settings, it is getting stuck at same 5%.
I was having XP on this, but that is not there now, disk already formated.
Can someone guide me to get ubuntu installed on this laptop.
